We are expanding our tax team and seeking a motivated Staff Tax Accountant who is eager to grow, learn, and contribute to an exceptional client experience.
Position Overview
The Staff Tax Accountant supports the preparation, review, and organization of individual and business tax returns, tax documentation, and client communications. This role is ideal for someone early in their tax career who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys problem‑solving, and values accuracy and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare federal, state, and local income tax returns for individuals, S‑corporations, partnerships, trusts, and estates.
- Assist in organizing and analyzing financial information provided by clients.
- Contribute to tax research and resolve basic tax issues under the guidance of senior staff.
- Maintain thorough and accurate documentation in accordance with firm processes and compliance standards.
- Communicate with clients regarding missing documentation, IRS notices, and general tax-related questions.
- Support the tax team during peak filing seasons with data entry, workpaper preparation, and quality checks.
- Stay current with tax law changes and best practices.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Strong understanding of basic accounting and tax principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and tax preparation software (training provided).
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work both independently and within a team.
Preferred:
- 1–2 years of experience in tax preparation or public accounting (internships included).
- CPA or EA track, or interest in pursuing certification.
- Experience with tax software.
