About the Internship
MFG Tax Services is seeking a high‑potential undergraduate or graduate intern to join us during a significant phase of our firm’s growth. We are a private wealth tax practice that thoughtfully leverages modern technology, strong processes, and disciplined execution to deliver high‑level advisory work.
This internship is designed for a student who wants to move beyond simply following established procedures and instead help test, refine, and improve how a modern tax firm operates. As we prepare for a transition to a new multi‑user, hosted tax platform in mid‑2026, you will support the evaluation and optimization of workflows that will shape the firm’s future operations.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in the intersection of tax, technology, and operational efficiency within a professional services environment.
What You’ll Learn
By the end of the internship, you will have experience in:
- Tax Technology & Systems Implementation: Participate in the evaluation and migration to a new firm‑wide tax software platform and help assess how systems support real‑world advisory work.
- Process Design & Improvement: Learn how workflows are built, documented, and refined to improve accuracy, speed, and consistency.
- Operational Problem‑Solving: Identify inefficiencies and collaborate with firm leadership on practical solutions in a live client environment.
- Modern Tax Practice: Gain exposure to how a private wealth firm integrates tax strategies, client service, and technology to deliver thoughtful advisory results.
Key Responsibilities
You will work closely with firm leadership and advisors on both operational and client‑focused initiatives:
- Platform Transition Support: Assist with data validation, workflow setup, and user testing related to the firm’s new hosted tax environment.
- Workflow Optimization: Identify repetitive or manual tasks and help streamline or standardize processes using available tools and best practices.
- Data Organization & Analysis: Aggregate, review, and organize client data to support accurate preparation and proactive planning.
- Technology Support: Assist in testing and refining digital tools used throughout the tax lifecycle, ensuring outputs meet firm standards.
- Client Stewardship: Handle client information with professionalism and discretion, maintaining the firm’s high service standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Process‑Oriented Thinker: Interested in how work gets done and motivated to make systems clearer, cleaner, and more efficient.
- Adaptable & Curious: Comfortable working in an environment where tools and processes are evolving.
- Academic Background: Junior or Senior in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office / Microsoft 365; interest in learning professional tax software and SaaS platforms.
- Clear Communicator: Able to explain observations, issues, and improvement ideas to firm leadership.
Why Join MFG Tax Services?
- Hands‑On Experience: Play an active role during a major operational transition rather than observing from the sidelines.
- Direct Mentorship: Work closely with experienced CPAs and advisors invested in teaching how and why the practice operates.
- Practical Skill Building: Develop skills in tax operations, workflow design, and technology‑enabled professional services.
- Career Visibility: Gain exposure that’s valuable whether you pursue public accounting, private wealth, advisory, or operations.
